DNC-GP31 Waterproof GoPro HERO13–9 External Power System – 164 ft (50 m)
DNC-GP31 is a waterproof external power housing system designed for GoPro HERO13 Black, HERO12 Black, HERO11 Black, HERO10 Black and HERO9 Black. Rated for underwater operation to 164 ft (50 meters), the system enables extended GoPro video recording using an external DC power source instead of relying solely on the camera's internal battery.
The system features a waterproof GoPro housing with an integrated short power pigtail and a specialized detachable underwater connector. The separately available DNC-1182 Submersible Power Cable connects the housing to an external DC power supply. Choose from 10 m, 30 m or 60 m cable lengths.
DNC-GP31 is suitable for underwater filming, marine operations, outdoor recording, research installations, boat-mounted cameras and long-duration video applications where frequent battery replacement is inconvenient or impractical.

Why DNC-GP31 Is Different
Unlike conventional weatherproof GoPro power systems intended primarily for exposure to rain or splashing water, the DNC-GP31 is designed for fully submersible operation to 50 meters.
The waterproof housing incorporates an external power connection with a short pigtail and detachable waterproof connector. This allows the underwater power cable to be selected independently according to the required installation distance.
Compared with systems using permanently attached long cables, the detachable design simplifies transportation, installation, storage and cable configuration.

GoPro Camera Compatibility
The DNC-GP31 waterproof housing is compatible with the following GoPro cameras:

The camera retains its normal recording functions, with power supplied through the external cable. Video is recorded to the GoPro memory card using the camera's supported recording modes.

How DNC-GP31 Works
- Install a compatible GoPro HERO camera inside the DNC-GP31 waterproof housing.
- Connect the housing's short waterproof pigtail to the compatible underwater connector on the DNC-1182 Submersible Power Cable.
- Route the cable to the surface or external power location.
- Connect the surface end to a compatible, correctly regulated external DC power source.
- Operate the GoPro using its normal camera functions and supported recording modes.
The DNC-GP31 external cable provides electrical power to the camera. It does not provide HDMI, SDI, Ethernet or wired video transmission.
Power Note: The supported external supply voltage depends on the approved cable length and system configuration. The stated 7.4–24 V range does not represent the voltage applied directly to the GoPro USB input. Confirm the appropriate supply voltage, polarity and power capacity before connecting.
DNC-1182 Submersible Power Cable – Sold Separately
The DNC-1182 Submersible Power Cable is specifically designed to connect the DNC-GP31 waterproof housing to a compatible external DC power source.
The cable features a detachable waterproof mating connector at the camera end and is available in three standard lengths:
- 10 m (32.8 ft): Short-distance underwater installations and nearby external power sources.
- 30 m (98.4 ft): Medium-distance marine observation and underwater recording.
- 60 m (196.9 ft): Long-distance external power routing and specialized camera installations.
Important: Cable length does not determine maximum operating depth. The DNC-GP31 housing is rated to 164 ft (50 m), regardless of the selected cable length.
Surface-End Connector Options
The DNC-1182 cable is available with three selectable surface-end termination options:
- Option 1 – DC Female Connector (5.5 x 2.1 mm): A standard female DC barrel jack for connection to a compatible male DC power plug.
- Option 2 – DC Male Connector (5.5 x 2.1 mm): A standard male DC barrel plug for connection to a compatible female DC output socket on a battery pack or regulated power supply.
- Option 3 – Open Wire Leads (No Connector): Unterminated red and black power wires for custom electrical connections, terminal blocks, OEM installations or customer-specified connectors.
Custom Engineering Applications: Open wire leads are particularly useful for OEM installations, marine electronics, research equipment and custom power distribution systems where a standard DC connector is not required.
Connector Compatibility: Before ordering, verify connector gender, 5.5 x 2.1 mm dimensions, voltage, polarity and power requirements of your external DC power source.
Important: Open wire leads must be properly terminated, insulated and protected by the installer. Standard surface-end DC barrel connectors and open wire leads are not waterproof unless appropriately protected or sealed.

GoPro Wi-Fi Control and Multi-Camera Recording
When the camera operates above water and within supported wireless range, the GoPro's built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities can be used with compatible GoPro applications and devices.
This allows users to access supported camera functions without physically handling the housing, depending on camera model, firmware, wireless conditions and application capabilities.
Multiple DNC-GP31 systems can be positioned at different locations to capture several viewing angles during the same recording session.
Camera synchronization and simultaneous wireless control depend on the capabilities of the selected GoPro cameras and software. The DNC-GP31 external power system itself does not provide a separate camera synchronization or wireless data transmission function.
Wireless Limitation: Standard GoPro Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are not suitable for reliable underwater communication. Wireless operation should be planned for above-water installations.

Waterproof Connector Installation and Safety
Important: Before underwater use, inspect all sealing surfaces and ensure the waterproof connectors are fully mated and correctly tightened according to their installation requirements.
- Do not operate the system underwater with disconnected or improperly secured waterproof connectors.
- Keep connector sealing surfaces clean and free of sand, debris and damage.
- Do not connect or disconnect underwater unless the connector is specifically approved for wet mating.
- Do not lift, suspend or pull the camera assembly by the electrical cable or waterproof connector.
- Use appropriate cable strain relief and secure the cable independently when required.
- Keep the external power supply in an environment suitable for its own electrical and environmental ratings.
- Verify correct supply voltage and polarity before applying power.
